Even though they tend to be on the dark side, try light and dark colors...what I mean is, maybe a black shower curtain with white tribal lines throughout.
Perhaps the same with some really cool tribal wall tile around the sink...or a black pedestal sink with silver fixtures.
Ahhh!...the walls of the Gothic bathroom...well, that's open for discussion. First decide what you want...paint, paper, faux, paneling...etc.etc.

You can do the walls black if you want but a small bathroom will look smaller with darker colors...and in your small cottage it will most likely be small...what to do?
Break it up...maybe do black on the top part of the wall and perhaps a tribal design or even paper on the lower half of the wall...you can break the wall with a chair rail or a painted design of your choosing...

There's nothing better than a great find at a yard/garage sale...to say, "Hey, I got that for a buck at a yard sale!" feels sooo good!...and I bet it will be one of a kind!
