~Country Living Rooms~
Atmosphere That Reigns Supreme!

  • penned by RF

Country living rooms beckon you to sit and stay awhile; with their snug and cozy atmosphere, it's hard to resist!

Being very unpretentious and informal, you can't help but bask in the warmth and comfort of the easy, welcoming style.

Soft, cushy chairs with lots of pillows, soft lighting and warm colors and perhaps a wonderful old chest used as a coffee table, is just the thing.

A vase of fresh flowers from the garden placed just right add a certain freshness to the room.Old pastoral paintings and collectibles of all kinds; from an old rocking horse to a spinning wheel.

We mustn't forget a must have in country cottage living rooms; the rocking chair just like Grandma had.

You'll find lots of the natural in country living rooms.

Ceilings of wood, large beams that run across and maybe even down the walls...surely bring that outdoor country feeling inside.

Quilts you cuddle up with in front of the crackling fire. The smell of apple turnovers and cinnamon spice candles, how yummy.

Focus On Your Focal Point

Wreaths, on the door or even in the house as an accent, are a nice touch and bid welcome to the guest or stranger.

It's a sure fire way to make them feel at home.

The focal point in the room could either be a real fire place or wood burning stove.

There's nothing like the smell of a stove and the sheer ambiance it evokes. It's something I really love. It draws everyone to gather around to enjoy the warmth.

It's such a nice feeling knowing, that even in our busy lives; once in awhile, our loved ones can join us together in one room. What better place than this cozy, intimate setting?

There's something magical about a fireplace or a stove...it changes a room some how and no doubt about, it becomes the central hub of the home.

Books & Collectibles

Built in book cases are the best!...Not just for housing books but for your favorite spoon or thimble collectibles or some pictures of the family.

If you have a lot of pictures, you can purchase fancy boxes for your photos and store them on the shelves...They have such nice boxes these days with so many beautiful styles.

With so many shelves you could decorate all day. Put some hidden overhead lighting in the shelves and show off your favorite things.

Bookshelves are a great space saver and will afford you a lot more room in your small cottage. After all, it's all about using what you have in the most efficient way.

If you're thinking about purchasing a wood stove or have a fireplace; try book cases on either side, they look wonderful and are so functional.

When you think country you think pine and all those warm colors that make these country living rooms so special.
