The Beach Bedroom Is
Always Light & Airy

  • penned by AL

The recipe for Beach bedrooms is light and airy with a touch of sea salt.

Open windows let the sun shine in bringing the smell of the ocean on the breeze.

The Bed...The Focal Point

Your beach bedroom boasts cool sheets and light blankets for a comfortable nights sleep...that's the ticket!

Your bed is simple and if you are furnishing for kids...well, that's a blast...try the bunk bed scene.

Floors & Walls

Keep it simple also...Usually wooden floors are the style in the beach cottage so think low pile, light throw rugs to catch sand and shake easily.

Berber is nice, though it has no pile, it's very functional and comes in so many styles.

The walls should be light colored perhaps just white. Go crazy!...think beach and sand.

You can even add sand to your paint and put a gritty finish on the walls...looks great!

Many wall hangings are simple bamboo shades or room dividers for that tropical look.

Think beach and try to find some shell hangings or wind chimes made of shells...

My daughter in law, who has a wonderful sense of style, has this beautiful white shell chime hanging in her bathroom...

Or how about this huge chime that looks like small water vessels...that's in her's striking!

Now visualize them in a beach would be lovely. Think of the sweet sound when the wind blows.

Don't Forget The Windows!...

Check out this window covering that my daughter in law also has in her guest bathroom...

Just perfect to complete the simple and or make yourself (we can show you how) with shells from the beach!

This is lovely on a smaller window but for a larger window or a sliding door, stick to sheers, you can't go wrong. They just look beautiful.

Did you know that you can do drapes outside? Well, you can.

Maybe as a partition if you have sliding doors in your bedroom.

Look at these designs and styles for a classy yet easy partition.
